Congratulations to Staff Council Award Winners

Each year, the Staff Council Service Award is presented to a staff member who makes the Champlain community stronger by supporting campus initiatives and events and by consistently striving to create solutions.  

This year’s recipient is a member of both the Staff Welfare Committee and the Wellness Committee at Champlain. Through her involvement in charities such as Camp Ta-Kum-Ta (a summer camp for kids who have or are recovering from cancer), she lives out in a vivid way the spirit of service and community engagement that is a central value of the college. Here are just a few things that her colleagues wrote about her:

The 2015 winner of the Staff Council Service Award is: Linda Goodrum,  Academic Operations Manager in the  Core Division


Each year, the Staff Council Innovation Award recognizes a staff member who is a creative thinker, initiator, and problem solver.

This year’s recipient has only been on campus for a few months, but he has shown an innovative flair since his arrival.

In his short time on campus, just since November 2014, he has made numerous improvements to the systems used by his department.

  • He upgraded the iPARQ car permit system for greater user-friendliness and expanded features such as issuing temporary permits for campus visitors;
  • He created a detailed, multi-layered google map of our various transportation infrastructNicure;
  • In his preparation of an  Active Transportation Plan, he created with campus survey and open house that brought participants from across the campus to engage with problems and solutions. .
  • And, he outfitted the new Bicycle Maintenance Shop located in Juniper Hall, which is now open for business.
