On Thursday, October 4th, members of the Staff Council Executive Board went to the Intervale Conservation Nursery to do some vegetable gleaning! What is gleaning you may ask? Well, at the Intervale, gleaning is part of “a program…helping to harvest vegetables from farm fields that then is given away as a free food share to low-income Vermonters.” We spent time working in two very long rows of spinach that needed to be gleaned. There was tons…and we definitely referenced Popeye quite often! This afternoon allowed for some team building amongst the Exec Board, and gave us the chance to give back to the community that Champlain is lucky enough to call home. Looking forward to next year!
