Well-being opportunities weeks of 6/15 and 6/22

What’s on tap for Well-Being this week and next? Well-Being Calendar“It’s ruinous for the soul to be anxious about the future and miserable in advance of misery, engulfed by anxiety that the things it desires might remain its own until the very end.  For such a soul will never be at rest-by longing for things to come it will lose the ability to enjoy present things.” – Seneca, Moral Letters, 98.5b-6a
As we move into the second half of Employee Well-being month, let’s focus on happiness and positive emotions.  Even with all that is going on in the world around us, it is okay to be happy and to experience positive emotions.   Did you know that forty percent of a person’s happiness is based on intentional activities?  That means doing things like practicing mindfulness, engaging in flow experiences, spending time in nature and taking care of our physical bodies can actually boost our level of happiness.  To support your happiness and positive emotions we’ve got some good stuff going on over the next two week and we hope you’ll join us.    Reset and recenter
Check out this five minute video and let Coach Cami lead you through a mindful pause that you can do anytime to reset and recharge or roll the virtual dice for a quick, mindful reset.

Get into flow
Physical activity and cooking are two activities that can get us into flow.  Flow is as any activity that we get completely immersed in, where we become oblivious to the outside world, where were are so in the moment that we lose track of time.  Join us for a yoga class, for a quick cardio session with Yoo-Sun or a strength training session with Jeff.  On Wednesday, June 17th and 24th we’ll be cooking up some tasty meals with the dietitians from Whole Health Nutrition.  Grab your ingredients and cook along with us as we prepare blackberry balsamic glazed pork and potato salad and cauliflower crust pizza and a salad with apple cider maple vinaigrette.  You can find out more about these classes on the GMHEC Well-Being calendar and on our Facebook group.  The password for the calendar is GMHECWell-Being.

What could be better for nurturing positive emotions than spending time in nature?
