2021 is going start off with bang because we have got an awesome line up coming at you beginning in January with our Quest to Recharge.  Using the DIEMlife platform, the Quest to Recharge will give you the opportunity to enhance your mental, emotional, physical and community well-being. In each week of this three-week Quest, we will be focusing on a different theme so grab your coworkers and let’s recharge together!  All participants will be entered into weekly drawings to win some great prizes.  January 25th through February 11th.  More details and registration will be available during the week of January 4th so mark your calendars and stay tuned….

The time has come to Move Better.  Picture this…it’s the end of December 2021 and you’re thinking back on the year…Are you going to look back on 2021 and think to yourself, “I feel amazing!  This is the year I finally did it.  I’m so proud of myself”.  Or are you going to look back and think, “another year gone by and I’m still in the same place…. tired, in pain and disappointed”.  Well…. if you are ready to make 2021 the year you do take action to feel and move better then you will be interested in our ten week Move Better program.  This virtual, small group personal training program is for people who are ready to get moving in a safe, supportive way under the direction of an experienced coach.  Learn more about Coach Ken and his philosophy here.  Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00-9:00 am EST from January 12th through March 18th.  There is no cost for this program. 
 
Mindful Pause book discussion group.  This 4-week program invites you to engage in the Guided Resilience approach to well-being as described in Cami Smalley’s Amazon best-selling book, “Mindful Pause: A Self-Care Guide to Resilience and Well-Being.” You can pick up a copy of the book on the Guided Resilience website or download it to your Kindle.  Come prepared each week to discuss a section of the book.  Sundays, January 10th through 31st, 5:00-6:15pm EST.  There is no fee for this program, but participants will need to purchase the book on their own. 
 
Beginning Mindfulness:  Join Coach Cami, founder of Guided Resilience for this eight-week series.  This program invites you to draw from Cami’s Mindful Pause approach to well-being to establish a personally meaningful mindfulness practice that promotes inner peace and stability.  These fundamental steps introduce mindfulness concepts, and Coach Cami’s breadth of coaching experience helps connect concepts to your life and experiences.  Thursdays, January 7th  through February 25th 8:00-9:30 pm EST or Saturdays, January 9th through February 27th 10:00-11:30 am EST. There is no cost for this program. 
 
Are you ready to get off the “on again, off again” diet rollercoaster?  Would you like to finally make peace with food and your body?  Are you interested in becoming empowered to use your own body’s wisdom to guide your food choices?  If so, then this four-week Intuitive Eating group is for you.  This group will be led by Amy Sercel, the Anti-Diet Dietitian, Kate Morris, Clinical Social Worker and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and Lizzy Pope, Associate Professor of Nutrition and Food Sciences at UVM.  There is no cost for this program, but participants may be interested in purchasing the recommended book, “Intuitive Eating, 4th Ed: A Revolutionary Anti-Diet Approach”.    Thursdays, January 7th through January28th.  6:00-8:00 pm EST. 
 
Commit to get fit: If you are ready to optimize your health and well-being, The Edge online 90 Day Commit to Get Fit Program is just what will help you do it.  This comprehensive online wellness program is designed to provide an education to enrich your life and help you become healthier. Over the course of 13 weeks, you will work with a health coach, a Registered Dietitian, and a personal trainer to support you to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyle behaviors. Topics will include fitness, nutrition, stress management and behavior modification. This program will help you build a customized wellness plan, reduce your health risk factors, reduce body fat and gain muscle, better manage stress, and learn how stay on track.   There is a fee associated with this program, but a portion may be covered by your health insurance and GMHEC will kick in a portion of the payment.  Sessions will be held on Tuesdays, January 12th through April 6th from noon to 1:00 pm EST.  To learn more, or inquire about your cost to participate, contact Nicole Williams, Director of The Edge Preventative Care at NWilliams@edgevt.com.

EDGE Next Steps Nutrition & Exercise to Improve Type II Diabetes Program:  Do you have type II diabetes?  Would you like to gain the knowledge and confidence to improve your health?  If so, join the team from The Edge for this comprehensive eight-week program focused on the positive impact of nutrition and exercise to improve Type II Diabetes.  Over the course of the 8-weeks you will get weekly virtual group nutrition sessions, three individual virtual nutrition sessions with a Registered Dietitian, a fitness program designed by a certified exercise specialist and meal and recipe Ideas to fuel your body and improve your insulin sensitivity.  This program may be fully covered by your insurance.  Mondays, January 25th – March 15th from noon-1:00 pm EST.  For more information or to inquire about your cost to participate, contact the Edge Genavix team at genavix@edgevt.com or 802-951-2320.  Learn more about this program here

Food and Mood: Nutrition to Support Mental Health.  Join Allison Filepp, Registered Dietitian from The Edge, for this comprehensive approach to supporting your mental health and well-being through nutrition. Weekly group sessions will be held virtually and will also include one on one tele nutrition sessions to customize your nutrition needs. Program may be partially covered by insurance. With the new year right around the corner it’s a great time to examine our self-care behaviors and consider how we might make ourselves and our self-care more of a priority.  A health coach can be a great resource and Cigna offers free health coaching as part of your benefits.   A coach partners with you to help you harness your strengths to implement the changes you would like to make to enhance your well-being.  To learn more about Cigna health coaching, check out this short video or go to www.mycigna.com and click on Manage My Health and select My Health Assistant Online Coaching from the drop down menu.
