The College Council met on October 3, bringing updates from Faculty Senate, Staff Council, Administration, SGA, and Deans & Provost offices.
The meeting began with some committee and task force updates from Noah Goldblatt and Christina Erickson, such as the Legislative Committee, Sustain Champlain and the Transportation Task Force.
Brian Andrews provided updates from the Staff Council, regarding:
- Staff Welfare Committee: Modern Think survey results, recognition programs, an upward-feedback management initiative, and accessibility of discounts and other employee perks.
- Professional Development Committee: New opportunities for staff, DareU events and workshops, and continuation of ½ day professional development.
- Networking and Recreation Committee: upcoming Halloween lunch.
Other council updates included:
Faculty Senate: Updates to faculty search committee processes.
Deans: HackVT 24 hour hackathon, LCDI refunding and renewal
Admin: Don Laackman discussed the great start to the fall semester, and successful events such as the recent Family Weekend.
There was some discussion of the campus-wide Gmail changeover starting today, which seems to be going smoothly so far.
There were many mentions of successful previous and upcoming campus events, including the Maker Lab opening, the Executive Leadership Series, the Single Parents Scholarship Event, the United Way campaign, and the TechJam job fair. Council members were encouraged to keep an eye on the Champlain News site for event updates.
